4.2 The Rising of the Moon Character Sketch - The Man -  The second important character in this one- act play. He has many identities like the man, escaped prisoner, ragged man , poor ballad singer and freedom fighter. He entered as a poor ballad singer but in fact he was an escaped prisoner. He introduced himself to the Sergeant as a poor ballad singer, disguised as a ragged man, dark hair, dark eyes smooth face and five feet five height. He was an intelligent man with a patriotic passion for his country Ireland. He was a brave freedom fighter and wanted to save his country from Britishers.
