Read the first activity, read the extract, and complete the following activities.

Passage-

A.1.Complete the information of Kasbai-     (2)

Ans-i. It is a traditional long-grained rice variety.

 ii. It has a distinct aroma, though much milder than Basmat

 iii. Very few old people were known about Kasbai.

iv. In old times like as Devu Handa’s, people were taking desi Kasbai rice crops.

A.2. Write the information about Devu Handa.  (2)

Ans- i. He was a greying old man wearing a cap

    ii. He was an ex-sarpanch of the village of Dhanivari.

   iii. He was a rich man, having acres of land, a huge house, and a large family.

  iv. He had knowledge of the Kasbai rice variety. His nature was kind and helpful which is why he helped the narrator give detailed information about Kasbai.

A.3. Explain- How did the narrator gather information about Kasbai.(2)

Ans- The narrator got a name for the desi rice crop Kasbai from Baban’s father and some other elders in their village. So he thought maybe a government agricultural officer should have known something about Kasbai but he was disappointed then he met Devu Handa, ex-sarpanch of Dhanivari, and got some information about Kasbai.

A.4 Give your observation about using desi variety in the fields of your area.  (2)                                                                                                               

Ans- As per my observations, the farmers in my area do not use the local (desi) variety in their fields. They like to sow only the hybrid variety of crops. They do not have time for consuming variety. They also want a bigger or greater production of crops. So they do not for the desi variety of crops.
