  2.8  Small Towns and Rivers " About the Poet, Poem  and Title -  The poem "Small Towns and The River’ is composed by the Indian poetess, strong voice  from the North East, Mamang Dai (1957- ). She is a poet, novelist, journalist, and former civil servant from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. She has received Padmashree Award in2011 and Sahitya Akademi Award in 2017.  The poem is taken from the collection of the poems, " The River Poems", published in 2004.  The title has deep meaning and it shows the importance of river in the life of people. Theme-  The theme of the poem is mortality, life vs death, eternity, nature, and spirituality. The theme of mortality is the dominant theme of the poem.  The poem describes the love for nature and the attachment of the poetess to her hometown. The poetess also believes in spirituality, the people from the northeast believe that the soul of their beloved is immortal and dwells in the company of nature....

  2.7 She Walks in Beauty- Lord Byron Appreciation - T itle- The poem 'She Walks in Beauty' is written by the Lord Byron in 1815. He was a British great romantic poet and satrist.  The poem is about  the external as well as internal beauty of the woman.  The title "She Walks in Beauty" doesn't mean that the woman is walking beautifully or that she is simply beautiful. It says that she walks "in beauty", meaning that beauty surrounds her, making her magnificent.
