A.1Central idea of the extract of the novel-

Ans- The central idea of the extract is Fogg's win despite delays in his return. He returns in time but he is initially unaware of it. He reaches in London at 8.50pm. so he thought that he lose the bet. The date of bet is 21st Dec. On 8.45pm in Reform club in London. When he knows the reality, he unexpectedly wins the wager at the last moment. He had gained a day when he crossed the International Date Line and could reach the clock within the deadline. He reched in Reform club at 8.44 pm on 21St Dec. on Saturday. He was unaware of getting 1 day because of he started his journey on eastward . 

It also deals with generous nature of Fogg and his attitude to give importance to love than money.

Explain: Time is important theme in this novel.

Ans-

'Time' is one of the important themes in this novel. Fogg had to complete his bet within 80 days. So it's time binding activity. As he and his companions struggle to do this, time foils of plans in many cases. Fogg had to save his time to win the bet but he was delayed because of Fix ,detective. He arrested Fogg and due to this he became late to reach  London in time. He was trying to  cover time, Fogg arranged a special train to reach London from Liverpool but he was still delayed. Fogg is afraid that he has lost the bet. However, in the end, it was the time that help Fogg to win his bet as he gained one day while crossing the International Date Line. 

Some lines are showing the importance of time-

"The most important features of this adventure novel is 'Time'."

"It illustrates repeatedly that time is fickle, and either works for or against them."

"The ultimate message is that no one can control time; time will work the way it wants to work, and humans are at its mercy. "

"Time is the only solution to problems."

So above lines shows 'time' is the important theme of the extract
