The Wise Man has Long Ears and a Short Tongue

The proverb, "The wise man has long ears and a short tongue," suggests us a wise person listens more and speaks less. It also teaches us the importance of being a good listener. By listening carefully, we gain knowledge, understand others' opinions, and avoid misunderstandings. "People respect those who think before they speak". Speaking less also helps us avoid unnecessary arguments and careless words that may hurt others. 

A good doctor listens patiently to a patient's problems before giving treatment. If the doctor speaks without listening, the diagnosis may be wrong. Similarly, a wise person first listens carefully, understands the situation, and then speaks thoughtfully. This is why people trust and respect good listeners.

A wise person also uses words thoughtfully and speaks only when necessary. Good listening improves communication, strengthens relationships, and helps us make better decisions. In today's fast-moving world, many people are eager to speak but unwilling to listen. 

Therefore, we should develop the habit of listening patiently and speaking politely. This quality makes us mature, knowledgeable, and respected by everyone.
