XII - Q. 4 C Expansion of idea -
Expansion means write a paragraph or to elaborate an idea in a paragraph form.
Idea means proverb, idioms, maxims, poetic lines, quotes, etc.
1] Here students will be given a proverb , thought ,a maxim, quotation or an idiom.
2] Students are expected to expand the given idea with good comprehension and examples.
3] Take care of tense, content. Language etc.
4] follow the given format.
Format
Title- ( Capital and bold)
1st paragraph - Introduction
i. Actual meaning
ii. significance of idea.
iii. Use literal / symbolic/ metaphorical meaning
iv. The given idea needs to be well evaluated and interpreted accordingly.
For example -
The above idea, " ......." means/ explain/ reflects that......
or
This is a well known thought or proverb commonly used in our day to day life which has a great significance.
2 nd Paragraph - Middle paragraph/ Core Paragraph
i. Practical meaning of the idea.
ii. Explore perspective, give anecdotes, experiences or even personal experiences.
iv. There should be unity, and clarity of thoughts.
v. Maintain coherence and a logical link between two distinct points between the sentences. For this used discourse markers, conjunctions and Conjunctive phrases should be kept in mind.
vi. Each para or point should support the central idea, but 'proportion of space' should be kept in mind. (Proportion of space: Means More important ideas - more space and Less important ideas- less space.)
vii. Avoid too many ideas.
3rd Paragraph - Conclusion
i. To sum up suitably with strong and relevant point.
ii.Use similar or another meaning sentences given in the topic sentence.
For example -
1. Tit for tat- 'Reap as you sow'
2. Experience is the best teacher- Practice makes man perfect.
3. Time and tide wait for none- Regretting about lost opportunity will do nothing to us.
4. All is well that Ends Well' - The end justifies the means.
5. Fortune Favours the Brave- There are no gains without pains.

Time and Tide Wait for none
This is a well known proverb commonly used in our day today life having a great significance. The actual meaning of the proverb is time and tide never forgive anyone if we irrespective them. Time waits for none. It has its own phenomenon.
The practical meaning is very clear. We should respect time as time plays a great role for our development . If we respect time, the world will respect us. Time is never bound to anyone , great people are successful because they respect time.
Every second, minute ,hour, day ,month weak has its own importance , time expects that we should run with it . It never looks back, it just proceeds. We should not try to stop the wheels of time, we should run with them. For everyone time management is necessary or else we suffer a lot.
