Read the given extract and complete the activity given below. (10Marks)

A.1. Pick out the lines which show weavers are working the whole day and night.(02)

Ans-  

I Weavers , weaving at break of day,

ii. Weavers , weaving at fall of night,

iii. What do you weave in the moonlight chill.....

A. 2. Discuss the various products made by the Weavers in the poem.(02)

Ans-

The Weavers make three different products in the three stanzas of the poem.

In the first stanza, they make vibrant blue colour 'Robes' for a newborn child.

In the second stanza, they make the 'marriage veils' for a queen.

In the third stanza, they make a 'funeral shroud' for a dead man.

A 3. Describe in your own words the steps or measures that can be taken to solve the problems of the Weavers.(02)

Ans- 

i. At Government level, schemes should be introduced to protect the interest of Weavers they should be provided subsidies just like farmers.

ii. At the individual level, we citizens can support the Weavers by buying their products even if they prove more expensive and less elegant. 

iii.Organization can arrange some exibition to give platform for them / their skill.

iv. We, citizens encourage to our family or  society to wear  traditional attire in our festival. 

A.4 Poetic Device (02)

Identify and explain the figure of speech in the following line.

Weavers, weaving at break of day, 

Metaphor- 

"Break of day" is indirectly compared with "childhood" so the figure of speech is metaphor.

Or 

A.4 Write down the rhyme scheme and rhyme pair of the first Stanza.

Rhyme Pair- 

day- gay

wild- child

Rhyme scheme- aabb

A. 5 Poetic Creation (02)

Replace first two  poetic lines of the following stanza.

Weavers, weaving  Solomon and still

What do you weave  in the moonlight chill...?

White as a feather and white as a cloud,

We weave a dead man's funeral shroud.

Ans-

Weavers want to do their work by will

Weavers (they) can create their own skill
