Ans- Place. Remaining are the elements of novel.


2. Salman Rushdie, V.S.Naipaul, Joseph Conrad, Kazuo Ishigura.

Ans- Joseph Conrad . Apart from him all are immigrant writers.


3.Anita Desai, Nayantara sahgal  Arun Joshi,  Manohar Malgonkar, V.S.Naipaul.

Ans-V.S.Naipaul. Remaining writers are Indian.


4. Toni Morrison, Margaret Atwood, Jane Austen, Arundhati Roy.

Ans-Arundhati Roy. Remaining writers are American and African .


A.2 Write a short note on Stream of Consciousness Novel. (02Marks)

Ans-

i. Stream of consciousness is a phrase coined by William James in his treatise 'Principles of Psychology' 1890.

ii.It means the flow of of the thoughts in the mind of the characters.

iii.Incidents in the plot are in the sequence of of their occurrence.

iv.The novelist narrate them as they enter the mind of the character.

v.The stream of consciousness novel commonly used as the narrative technique of interior monologue.

vi. Virginia Woolf is the pioneer of the stream of consciousness technique in English novel.

She is an Indian poet, political activist and feminist.  She is called " Nightingale of India" for her lyrical poetic style.  The poem is  taken from her famous collection  "The Golden Threshold", published in 1905.
